![]() ![]() ![]() Unused tabs running in the background for hours are one of the main causes of a Safari memory leak on your Mac. Why is Safari taking up so much memory?.FAQs about Safari Using Too Much Memory on Mac.I hope that the developer will continue to maintain and develop this app as new iterations of Mac OS X are released, and that he doesn't let it fall by the wayside. This "Advanced" pane alone easily makes this app worth the $5.00 that the developer is asking for. In short, with the paid version, I don't have to manually clean when the memory drops, as you have to do with the free version of Memory Clean. One is to enable Auto Clean, and the other is to enable Extreme Mode with Auto Clean. Furthermore, you have two options on the "Advanced" pane. It even tells you what is a safe level to set here. On this pane, you can automate Memory Clean so that it will go into action whenever the free RAM drops below the threshold that you set. What I most like is the "Advanced" pane in the preferences. I imagine that folks with more RAM will regain even more memory. I now constantly have about 2 GB of free RAM on this 4 GB machine. In my case, I see a marked improvement in how much memory is recovered with Memory Clean when it is used in extreme mode, in contrast to the regular free mode. Nevertheless, despite the aforementioned reservations, yesterday afternoon I downloaded and installed the free version of Memory Clean on an early 2009 24" iMac with 4 GB of RAM, in order to determine if it really lives up to its claims.Īfter letting it run for perhaps three hours yesterday, and seeing how it performed - manually using the clean option does in fact regain a certain percentage of fragmented memory - I decided to take the plunge and paid the $5.00 for the more advanced extreme clean version.įolks, I can tell you from firsthand observation that there is no hype here. All you are really doing is giving the forefront app more processing power, while denying it to the rest. It may seem to be accelerated if you use one of those apps which rely on adjusting the nice parameter of your running processes, but it is basically an illusion. Not only that, but a computer can't operate any faster than its actual clock speed. One reason is that a Mac will naturally regain most of the lost memory after using a memory hog, if given enough time to do so, even if you don't reboot the machine. I have always been skeptical regarding apps which claim to accelerate a Mac, or which claim to recover fragmented memory. This, in my view, is a smarter, more positive marketing approach which will attract more users.Ĭharging extra should be reserved for major product version updates and significant functionality improvements, and not just for the ability to change a few colors, in my view. There are many developers - including developers of free apps - who will change their app's icon, or add additional theme options to it, who don't charge a penny. Yes, the "Extreme Clean" version of Memory Clean is rather cheap - thank you for that - nevertheless, charging extra just to change the colors in the already-purchased version of your app does not sit well with me, and I think that others will tend to agree with me. To charge more for what should really be a natural part of the update flow is a bit ludicrous, and perhaps greedy as well. However, for users who have ALREADY purchased the "Extreme Clean" version of Memory Clean, it is my view that extra themes should be freely included in any future updates of the app. I can understand if the developer might want to charge an additional fee for extra themes for the free version of Memory Clean, but even then, it should be a one-time fee which covers ALL themes, and NOT an additional fee for each individual extra theme. While I truly appreciate what this app does - and thus, I purchased the "Extreme Clean" version of this same app in the Mac App Store - I feel that it is a bad move on the part of the developer to charge additional fees in order to access the extra themes. ![]()

![]() But the average is 3 millisieverts (mSv) per year. ![]() ![]() How much of this so-called background radiation you are exposed to depends on many factors, including altitude and home ventilation. We're exposed to small doses of ionizing radiation from natural sources all the time - in particular, cosmic radiation, mainly from the sun, and radon, a radioactive gas that comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, water, and building materials. Ionizing radiation can damage DNA, and although your cells repair most of the damage, they sometimes do the job imperfectly, leaving small areas of "misrepair." The result is DNA mutations that may contribute to cancer years down the road. The radiation you get from x-ray, CT, and nuclear imaging is ionizing radiation - high-energy wavelengths or particles that penetrate tissue to reveal the body's internal organs and structures. But are we courting future public health problems? Exposure to ionizing radiation on the rise The benefits of these tests, when they're appropriate, far outweigh any radiation-associated cancer risks, and the risk from a single CT scan or nuclear imaging test is quite small. CT scanning and nuclear imaging have revolutionized diagnosis and treatment, almost eliminating the need for once-common exploratory surgeries and many other invasive and potentially risky procedures. Over 80 million CT scans are performed in the United States each year, compared with just three million in 1980. But many experts are concerned about an explosion in the use of higher radiation–dose tests, such as CT and nuclear imaging. For most women, there's very little risk from routine x-ray imaging such as mammography or dental x-rays. ![]() Patients want to know if radiation from mammograms, bone density tests, computed tomography (CT) scans, and so forth will increase their risk of developing cancer. The manner in which humans smoke cigarettes is an important determinant of smoking risks. There's always questions about radiation exposure from medical imaging. Of the few investigators that have predicted cancer risks from smoking on a chemical-specific basis, most used mainstream cigarette smoke (MCS) carcinogen emissions obtained via machine smoking protocols that only approximate human smoking conditions. (J Natl Cancer Inst 2000 92:106–111) for MCS emissions of three carcinogens measured under human smoking conditions to compute probability distributions of incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) values using Monte Carlo simulations. The three carcinogens considered are benzopyrene, N'-nitrosonornicotine (NNN), and 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK). Computed NNK ILCR values were compared with lifetime risks of lung cancer ( ILCR CMD obs Σ − lung ) derived from American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Studies (CPS) I and II. Within the Monte Carlo simulation results, NNK was responsible for the greatest ILCR values for all cancer endpoints: median ILCR values for NNK were ~18-fold and 120-fold higher than medians for NNN and benzopyrene, respectively. For "regular" cigarettes, the NNK median ILCR for lung cancer was lower than ILCR CMD obs Σ − lung from CPS-I and II by >90-fold for men and >4-fold for women. ![]() ![]() ![]() These cutouts will help to fix the brackets on the wall and to fix the floating shelf on the brackets. Now the game allows players to select between Full, Limited, and Minimum brutality settings in preferences. An addition that will make Steam Deck players happy is in-game integration of mod.io, which as with the desktop version, will provide easy access to community maps. In terms of the game itself the news is better, with the update bringing some reasons to be cheerful. People may be angry, but change here feels unlikely. It also seems extraordinarily unlikely that it would back down on a system that integrates its cosmetic offerings into the game and gives it more of the proceeds. So: the backlash is real, but it seems certain Techland is simply going to bunker down, do a little bit of fiddling with what it offers for DL Points, but more-or-less stay on the same course. "As far as we understand, a big part of the frustration stems from the pricing of the bundles and the resulting leftover DL Points," says the studio, " we’ve already started working on a couple of solutions proposed by the community." These include basically re-jigging the bundles and making items purchasable individually but "that will not happen overnight, as it’ll take the devs some time to rework the system." Techland has kinda-semi-addressed this in an update that hasn't done much to quell the ravenous hordes. User cryocore is fairly typical of the sentiment among the negatives, saying Techland "just took a massive dump on the game and their reputation." The game still holds a "mostly positive" rating for now but around 2000 recent reviews are "mixed". You already know what happened next, and the Steam review bombing campaign is ongoing in earnest. ![]() The biggest bundle offered is 6,500 DL points for $50. Previously you could buy that bundle with real money for $6 or whatever the case may be, but now you'll have to spend $10 to get 1,100 DL Points and basically put more money into game upfront. This is one of the big problems for players: you can buy 500 points for $5, but most bundles cost 550 points. The announcement comes with 500 DL Points for existing players (which need to be redeemed before October 7), though it doesn't appear that this bonanza is actually enough to buy anything decent. The developer has posted an FAQ about DL Points which claims they are "a straightforward way for you to buy bundles without the need to leave the game also make our lives easier, because we won’t have to set up the bundles on multiple outside stores." For the moment, players can still buy stuff in the old way, but Techland's intent is clearly to phase this out, with the FAQ saying this will remain an option "for now" (outside of the PlayStation Store, from which it is removing all existing bundles.) So clearly Techland wants a bigger slice of the pie. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please do let me know how this idea works for you in the comments section below. So try using a registration line on your next polymer clay cane project, and see if you don’t have a lot less problems keeping those canes from getting all distorted! Take the strip of dark green that you have, and put it between two of the diagonal slices you just made. Using your fingers, round off the black side of one of the plug pieces, then pinch the white side of the square into a point so that you form a petal shape. Take one of the halves and cut that diagonally into three or four pieces. This is going to be forming the veins in your leaf! Then, figure out around how long the cane is, and make yourself a flat strip of the dark green you have around the outside that is about that width. Earlier this week I took some time out to make this Water Cane, I purchased the tutorial for this cane from CraftArtEdu designed by Claire Wallis. Now that you have your cane, the first step is to split it in half. Polymer Clay Water Cane UPDATE CraftArtEdu has unfortunately now closed, if you would like more information on this cane here is Claire Wallis Facebook Page. However, you can also just press them out with your fingers, and get ready for the next step! Because I make a lot of canes, I've invested in a tool called a "conditioning machine," which is basically a hand-cranked pasta machine designed for rolling out clay. The next step is to take these canes, and flatten them to a similar width as well. It doesn't have to be perfect, but try to get them fairly close. Once you have your colors, you will need to roll them out into canes of roughly the same width. It's hard to describe the logistics of this part, as it involves a lot of "Is that too similar to the last color? Let me add a smidge more green - Oh god, now it's just green, that was too much, we'll save that for later, let's try again." Start mixing with the darkest color, which will be the outermost color, a little bit at a time. You should have the smallest amount of this color. For this demonstration, I chose a light yellow-green. Start with the lightest color, which will be the one in the center of the leaf. The first step is to pick out your colors, and create a gradient. ![]() ![]() ![]() “Their collective resourcefulness, can-do spirit and dedication to virtual consultations and other proactive ways to continue the Budget Blinds legacy for personalized service, design and product innovation represents the heart of the brand. “We applaud these Budget Blinds all-stars who have been able to continue to grow their businesses in the face of the pandemic and continually shifting local and state mandates and restrictions,” said Phillip. The amount of wood harvested can be increased with the Mother Lode perk, the Art of Mining Vol. Different stages of trees (apart from the seedling) provide resources followingly: This can be done with bare hands if necessary, but it is more efficient when using an axe. Trees are harvested for wood via chopping them with a proper tool. All crops share the same grow rate with trees: 63 minutes for one stage, meaning 126 minutes or 2 hours and 6 minutes for complete growth. If a seedling or growing plant is harvested, only the seed for that plant is recovered. Only fully-grown plants can be harvested for crops. Inspecting a plant by aiming crosshair at it will display its growth stage: seedling, growing, or plant. Plants initially appear as seedlings and slowly mature over time. Stage 1 tree will have a durability of 300 whereas a fully grown tree will have a durability of 1200. The player can follow the growth by measuring the tree's durability: each stage adds 300 to the durability after seedling. This means that a fully grown tree takes 252 minutes or 4 hours and 12 minutes to grow. Each stage takes 63 minutes to progress to the next one. Dirt provides a suitable soil for trees to grow to their full potential. This means that while trees can be planted in surfaces such as snow and sand, they won't grow to their final form, reducing the amount of wood that can be chopped from them. The initial requirement for planting is a fertility level of one. For trees to go to the final stage, they need to be planted on a block that has a fertility level of three or higher. Each planted tree has five different stages sapling is the first stage. They will slowly grow and mature in stages until a maximum size is reached. Trees will initially appear as small saplings, which only yield the seed back when destroyed. The yellow block represents the shaft (which obviously can have a plant under it), the green blocks represent blocks where crops can grow and red blocks where crops can't grow or be placed. The following image pictures the available spots a crop can be placed in an underground farm: Vertical distance does not reduce light intensity, meaning that farms can be successfully built even in bedrock. This means a farm plot that is over seven horizontal blocks from a natural light source will not receive enough light for crops to grow. Crops require 'at least a light level of 8'. The light value will also be reduced by 1 per every horizontal block travelled from light source. A block with a light opacity of 1 will reduce the amount of light blocks below it receive by 1, for example from 15 to 14. The light levels have a range of 0 to 15, 0 being completely dark and 15 having access to full sunlight. This is defined by their light opacity property. Various types of blocks will let light through them. A chimney, for example, will provide a suitable amount of it. This means that plants need to either be outside, or have some method of receiving natural light. Plants (again with the exception of Mushrooms) require natural light to grow. These seeds (with the exception of mushrooms) have to be planted into a farm plot. Grabber X3 has a three-ply structure that provides additional strength and puncture resistance. A series of deflection ribs protect the sidewalls against damage from stones or gravel, which makes for highly robust performance in tough terrain. When driving over rocks, grip edges arranged at different angles in the tyre’s tread delivers maximum grip in every direction. The tyre’s unique design has chamfered block edges with wider tread grooves and narrow grooves in the tread base to enable stones to be displaced faster to prevent them from lodging when travelling over gravel. All three rely on a tread pattern that features deep grooves, channels for mud evacuation and staggered edges, which makes for high levels of grip on sand, mud and gravel.
